I was born and raised in the Wrightstown, WI area. I grew up in the city, but the majority of my summers were spent on my uncle’s farm in Brillion, WI. The years I spent on the farm helped me develop the work ethic that I have, and taught me that farmers are some of the hardest working people around. It also sparked my interest in agronomy.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Soil and Land Management for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in May of 2009. In July of 2010 I became a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA).
The summer of my sophomore year of college (2007), I worked as an intern for the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) in Columbia County. While I was there I did field checks on CRP, and made sure they were being managed properly. I gained the majority of my weed identification knowledge from this internship. During my time spent here I learned about all of the government cost share programs (EQUIP, CNMP, CRP, CSP) that are offered to farmers as well.
I began working for Polenske Agronomic Consulting in the spring of 2008. I was a crop scout for Jeff and Nathen. They have taught me many of the essential traits you need to have in order to be a crop consultant. Along with this, they also taught me the proper procedures for identifying insects and diseases in a growing crop. Upon my graduation from college, I was hired on full time, as a crop scout, training to become a consultant. I ended up evolving into a different role with the company though.
Recently, I have started to head up the Soil Sampling Division of Polenske Ag. Along with this I also generate recommendations for VRT fertilizer and VR Seeding, and create a wide variety of maps that are included in Nutrient Management Plans.
